Pillar 23 (第23柱 Dai 23-hashira) is the twenty-third chapter of the Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist manga.

Outside everyone is frozen, and Kevin is banging on the barrier to get to William. Dantalion breaks the barrier and takes William from Michael in the nick of time.

Michael recognises Dantalion as Lucifer's precious child, and Dantalion calls Michael a traitor that deceived Lucifer. Michael is angered, saying he was simply stronger, and attacks.

Isaac explains to William that Lucifer, the Emperor of Hell is Michael's brother, who upon rebelling against God was beaten by Michael and sent to Hell.

In the middle of battle, Michael says he knew Dantalion, who formed a contract with Lucifer while he was still human. Dantalion is furious and attacks, overwhelming Michael. He is stopped by Kevin as he is about to launch an attack on the downed angel. Dantalion taunts Kavin if he will reveal his true identity, but Kevin says that if something happens to michael Heaven would really start to move and put William in even more danger, as any high-ranking angel, even if they're not an archangel, can summon William to Heaven.

Michael is about to leave, as the human body he's in can't hold much longer, and says to William that he'll come again to ask his question.

They are back in the Church, at the trial, where William flawlessly goes to prove his innocence by excessively speaking in Latin. The Head Boy then comes, with the two students that framed him.

William is resting in the gardens, pleased with himself, when Dantalion comes asking if he's hurt. He tells William about Elliot, but william counters by asking who he is.
